Took my 2016 CX-5 in for a scheduled oil change - late afternoon appointment on Saturday. At the last minute, I called and asked if I could also get the retro-upgrade for CarPlay. I have mixed opinions about my recent visit with the dealer. The good: Staff was friendly and helpful. They tried to answer my questions as best they could and went under the hood with me to help explain. The bad: I received faulty information. I was told 1) that the Q85 battery in my car is not a lead acid battery 2) the regenerative charging capacitor is under the seat (it's by the front wheel well) and 3) that the Q85 battery has a computer in it. Pretty disappointing coming from the experts. Unfortunately I have found this to be pretty common in my neighborhood. Landscapers, contractors, HVAC folks, and even automotive repair specialists are far under-informed to be giving opinions with as great of certainty as they do. So that part of my experience was actually pretty average. The fact that the folks tried hard to answer my questions means so much that I'm willing to give a nod of thanks for my experience today. Previous visits are a whole different story (in a negative way). Edit: Some of the advice that was given to me I found out was also incorrect. I was told that a plastic clip needed to be removed from the negative battery terminal in order to swap out the battery. That's not the case. The plastic assembly is part of the cable itself. Only the cable needs to be removed, the assembly can stay attached.
