The 2024 Mazda3 Sedan is a fun-to-drive car with a comfortable, premium interior and plenty of standard technology features. And as a 2024 IIHS Top Safety Pick+, the Mazda3’s dedication to safety is clear. In addition to passive safety features which can keep you safe in a collision, the Mazda3 offers a long list of advanced safety features which can keep drivers more alert and even help prevent a collision.
2024 Mazda3 Sedan 6 Safety Features
1. Lane Departure Warning System
Using a Forward Sensing Camera, this standard system detects lane markings on the road and warns the driver with an audible alert if it senses that the Mazda3 is drifting from its lane. Standard Lane-Keep Assist works in tandem with the Lane Departure Warning System to provide steering assistance and alert the driver with a steering-wheel vibration.
2. Driver Attention Alert
At speeds between 41 and 86 mph, the Mazda3’s standard Driver Attention Alert monitors the driver for signs of fatigue or reduced attentiveness and displays a message encouraging the driver to take a break. This system uses the Forward Sensing Camera and other inputs to gather driving data after 20 minutes of continuous driving at highway speeds.
3. Rear Cross Traffic Alert
When you’re backing out of a parking space, it may be difficult to see vehicles approaching from either side behind you. The standard Rear Cross Traffic Alert uses rear radar sensors to detect these vehicles and alert you using audible and visible warnings. Available Rear Crossing Smart Brake Support can apply the brakes automatically to prevent a collision with a crossing vehicle.
4. Front Smart Brake Support
Using radar sensors and the Forward Sensing Camera, standard Front Smart Brake Support scans the road ahead and warns the driver if it detects a potential collision. If the driver doesn’t take action and a collision is imminent, the system can automatically apply the brakes to reduce the impact.
5. Parking Safety Systems
The Mazda3 Sedan comes standard with a rearview monitor, which turns on when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. The monitor features guide lines showing you the width of the vehicle to assist with parking. An available 360° View Monitor uses several cameras to create a bird’s-eye view of your vehicle’s surroundings, making parking and navigating tight spaces even easier.
6. i-Activ AWD
For added confidence on the road, available i-Activ AWD directs torque to the wheels with the most traction at any given moment. This system enables your Mazda3 to better handle road conditions in inclement weather like rain and snow.
